The Project Preservation Manager is responsible for the preservation and storage management of turbine components delivered from the GE Supply Chain and GE factories. You will ensure the proper preservation and storage of turbine components that leave the Supply Chain factories and are stored at the Port, as well as manage work on completing items that do not conform to contract specifications before handover to the client. The key objective is to maintain the good condition of the components until their installation and commissioning offshore. This role is based on site at Nigg in Scotland, with onboarding training conducted with the Able Seaton site team and regular travel to Able Seaton Port required.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all preservation activities related to construction and commissioning on site, from site mobilization through erection and commissioning work.
- Develops and implements the preservation plan and strategy based on the project.
- Management and planning of all preservation personnel requirements and operational performance activities related to testing and validation of instrumentation components & controls systems of the equipment in accordance with design objectives/specifications for operational use.
- Recruit and develop talent as per project demand.
- Manage preservation and contractors.
- Organize and lead weekly coordination meetings for preservation activities.
- Manage handover of equipment (nacelles, towers, blades) during various project phases.
- Review and approve supplier invoices.
- Manage the project preservation budget.
- Track preservation and completion activities KPIs and report to the client.
- Share lessons learned for future projects.
- Progress reporting to the management team, with escalation of potential roadblocks and risks.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and use prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
- Understand key business drivers and how the work of your team integrates with other teams.
- Use judgment to propose different solutions outside of set parameters with guidance.
- Provide informal guidance to new team members.
Required Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience/knowledge.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical systems, specifically in wind turbine experience.
- Advanced experience in Project Management & Commissioning.
