GE Vernova's Power Conversion & Storage (PCS) business provides electrification systems that are critical to customers' power requirements for their high-performance, efficient and demanding applications. The Marine Power Test Facility (MPTF) is a dedicated, full power, land-based test facility and plays a crucial role in de-risking present and future power and propulsion technologies, systems and from product development and verification through to complete, full-scale integrated power and propulsion including new 'clean ship' technologies. The MPTF is the only commercial land-based facility in the world that is capable of full-scale testing of complete integrated naval power and propulsion systems from ship fit prime movers through to propulsion at up to 20MW scale.
This role is based at our Marine Power Test Facility (MPTF) in Whetstone (Leicester). This state-of-the-art facility plays a crucial role in de-risking present and future platforms, energy and propulsion technologies, micro grids and associated systems and solutions for both surface ships and submarines.
This is an autonomous role where the applicant will be responsible for producing engineering designs and drawings, using AutoCAD / Autodesk Inventor computer aided design (CAD) software, to provide support for all engineering activities at the Marine Power Test Facility (MPTF) on a variety of engineering projects. The areas of responsibility will cover electrical system drawings and documentation: circuit diagrams, single line diagrams, interconnection drawings, cable schedules; and also for: cable routing, piping systems, plant layout / spatial design, mechanical arrangements, and structural designs.
The duties can vary day to day and month to month, depending on the project and the status of the project, and also the facility requirements. Ready for a new, exciting career opportunity, you will report directly to the Systems Engineering Manager, collaborating with a diverse engineering and business community.
As part of this role, you will also have responsibility for the following activities:
- Comply with company and regulatory health and safety requirements.
- Create and maintain all project and site facility 2D/3D drawings for electro-mechanical installations.
- Develop detailed designs to specifications, standards, and regulations.
- Execute the design adhering to business standards, practices, and procedures.
- Review engineering drawings and designs for accuracy to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
- Provide technical support to Engineering colleagues.
- Survey existing buildings and structures for the creation and update of drawings.
- Liaise with customers and suppliers (including site visits).
- Assist in other areas of the business as required.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- City & Guilds/HNC/HND/Degree in Computer Aided Design.
- The applicant must be a sole national British citizen and have a valid UK passport, and holds, or is eligible to obtain, UK security clearance to SC level.
- Has a valid full UK driving licence.
