In this role, you guide the evolution of critical control and protection platforms so they remain scalable, reliable, secure, and ready for the future.
What you will do
- You define and drive the strategy, roadmap, and lifecycle of control and protection hardware platforms used across high-voltage direct current and flexible alternating current transmission solutions.
- Shape the product roadmap for hardware platforms, including performance, input/output architecture, communication, reliability, cybersecurity, and long-term maintainability.
- Build reusable platform capabilities that support multiple applications and solutions.
- Align platform evolution with market needs, customer expectations, system requirements, and technology trends.
- Manage the product catalogue, including platform capabilities, variants, configurations, and lifecycle status.
- Own product-level requirements and ensure they connect clearly to wider system and solution needs.

- Work closely with engineering, systems, software, supply chain, and commercial teams to ensure strong platform integration and delivery readiness.
- Contribute to supplier and sourcing decisions that improve availability, competitiveness, and delivery performance.
- Champion compliance with cybersecurity, safety, regulatory, and sustainability requirements.
- Support business case development, cost optimisation, and investment planning for the platform portfolio.
What you bring
- You bring strong product ownership or platform leadership experience in hardware, embedded systems, industrial control, or closely related technology environments.
- You are likely to have experience defining product strategy, roadmaps, and lifecycle plans for complex technical platforms.
- A strong understanding of real-time systems, hardware architectures, and system integration.
- Experience working with control and protection systems, embedded platforms, or industrial automation technologies.
- Knowledge of communication and interface standards used in power or industrial environments, including IEC 61850.
- Confidence working across technical and business teams and bringing stakeholders together around a clear direction.
- A structured approach to decision-making, prioritisation, and long-term planning.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex topics clearly.
It would be helpful if you also have experience in power systems, grid technologies, or platforms used in high-voltage transmission applications, though this is not essential if you bring relevant transferable experience.
