The Manufacturing Quality Control Team Leader is responsible for ensuring that all products manufactured meet the necessary quality standards before delivery to customers. They will maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with local and legal regulations.
The Team Leader will be responsible, on their shift, for a team of Inspectors and will manage daily work schedules and prioritisation to support the production team. It is a demanding environment where sound decision making under pressure within the SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) framework will be required. The Team Leader will ensure that the inspectors are motivated and aligned with business goals and strategy. They will work closely with production teams and quality control personnel to identify and resolve issues, always getting to root change and sustained countermeasures. The team leader will identify & share best practice and will drive continuous improvement actions to completion.
Responsibilities:
- Inspection and Testing: Ensure that inspections of incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products take place to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications. Where necessary communicating required adjustments to production and supplier quality.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and other quality control activities. Prepare and submit detailed reports on inspection results and quality issues. Completing Nonconforming Reports including root cause analysis with cross functional teams.
- Quality Control: Collaborate/Facilitate with production and engineering teams to address and resolve quality issues. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and manufacturing processes.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures and protocols.
- Training and Support: Provide guidance and support to production staff on quality control processes and best practices. Assist in training new employees in quality inspection techniques and standards.
Qualifications:
- HND/HNC, Certified Quality Engineer, or relevant experience.
- Desirable: Lean, Six Sigma or TQM.
Skills:
- Prior experience in quality inspection or related field within an Engineering manufacturing environment.
- SAP experience.
- Experience of managing small teams.
- Improvement Techniques: Charts, Controls, Diagrams, Improvement Methods, Sampling and Problem Solving, Statistical Process Control.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
Working Conditions:
- The work is shift based and 5 days onsite.
- This position may require standing for extended periods and will involve exposure to the production floor.
- Attending meetings and reporting as necessary to support the business.
- May require lifting and carrying materials and equipment.
- Occasional travel might be necessary to support quality actions.
