We are looking for a skilled and motivated Mechanical/Electrical Assembly Fitter to join our manufacturing team at our Rugby site, working on the late shift.
You will be responsible for the mechanical and electrical assembly, fitting and preparation of rotating machinery and associated components, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately and to the required quality standards.
Job Description
- What You’ll Be Doing
- Carrying out mechanical fitting, preparing and building machines for test.
- Fitting drives, couplings, lubrication and cooling systems.
- Preparing and assembling sub-assemblies, including mains and neutral terminal boxes, exciter bases and frames.
- Threading rotors and fitting bearings.
- Setting air gaps, drilling and dowelling components.
- Carrying out instrumentation fitting and wiring, including auxiliary box wiring.
- Pipe bending and threading.
- Measuring components to tight tolerances using micrometers, verniers, bore micrometers and DTI gauges.
- Carrying out machine and shaft alignment.
- Preparing completed machines for dispatch, including fitting labels, earths, couplings and transit gear.
- Working safely at all times in accordance with EHS guidelines.
- Following manufacturing processes, procedures and quality standards throughout production.
- Achieving production and quality targets.
- Liaising with Area and Team Leaders and other departments to ensure production objectives are achieved.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment in line with 5S standards.
- Completing quality documentation accurately and in accordance with required procedures.
- Supporting other manufacturing activities as required to meet business needs.
- What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a skilled mechanical fitter .
- Previous experience of mechanical and electrical fitting to a recognised standard.
- Electrical skills for instrumentation fitting and wiring, including auxiliary box wiring.
- Ability to work to and measure tight tolerances, with confidence using precision measuring equipment.
- Ability to read and accurately interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
- Understanding of geometric tolerances and key engineering drawing symbols.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Ability to follow work instructions, processes and procedures accurately.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also using your own initiative.
- Ability to work towards production targets and deadlines.
- Reliable, flexible and positive approach to work.
- Good organisation and accuracy.
- Willingness to work the late shift and provide overtime support as required.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and following EHS requirements.
