We are seeking a Lead OT Cyber Security Engineer to design, implement, validate, and test network and security infrastructure across major UK and international critical infrastructure, marine, and naval projects. In this role, you will protect industrial and offshore systems from emerging cyber threats, ensure compliance with industrial security standards, and guide junior team members while contributing to technical documentation and project delivery.

Designing and delivering advanced motor, drive and control technologies that evolve today's industrial processes for a cleaner, more productive future, it serves specialized sectors such as energy, marine, industry and all related services.

Locations: Rugby or Coventry (UK).

Main responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, implementation, and commissioning of industrial network and OT security systems in line with organisational objectives, industrial standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans to safeguard critical OT assets.
  • Develop and implement project-specific system architecture models tailored to customer requirements.
  • Configure, harden, and secure industrial network systems, ensuring redundancy and high availability to minimise downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant cybersecurity standards, including ISA/IEC 62443, NIST SP 800 series, ISO 27001, and industry regulations.
  • Monitor emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and technology trends to enhance OT security posture.
  • Provide expert cybersecurity guidance to engineering and project teams.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, including system architecture, IP design, and verification plans.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers to develop skills, knowledge, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery and alignment with business objectives.

Must have requirements:

  • Degree-level qualification in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field, OR equivalent professional experience and certifications.
  • Proven experience in OT cyber security or network engineering within an OT/industrial environment, typically gained with 5 years of experience.
  • Hands-on experience configuring, hardening, and securing industrial networks and switches/firewalls.
  • In-depth knowledge of OT systems, ICS, SCADA, and DCS technologies.
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and standards, including ISA/IEC 62443, NIST, ISO 27001, CIS, and related industrial standards.
  • Experience with cybersecurity tools such as Wireshark, Nessus, Burp Suite, CIS Benchmark, Trellix, Acronis, and Microsoft virtual environments.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with antivirus, encryption, and endpoint security tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects or customers concurrently.
  • Collaborative team player with strong influence and communication skills, able to thrive in ambiguous or evolving environments.
  • Relevant professional certifications, such as ISA/IEC 62443, CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA N+, or equivalent.
