Job Description Summary
We are seeking an experienced Lead Production Engineer for the Dogger Bank Offshore Wind Farm Project.
The successful candidate will have a solution orientated mindset and a result delivery style. Strong communication and listening skills with the team are essential. Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Ensure safe and efficient WTG operations by improving preventative and corrective maintenance activities, helping the organization fix issues on the first try and provide top-quality scheduled services.
- Develop and maintain standardized technical solutions in collaboration with our customers to meet SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) targets effectively.

- Support the GE Lean program, by identifying opportunities for process optimization, facilitating waste reduction initiatives, and fostering a culture of efficiency and excellence across the organization.
- Facilitate customer queries to GE Engineering teams, enabling exceptional customer service through the life of the project.
- Oversee the production engineering team, establishing priorities and managing key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operational efficiency and meet strategic objectives.
- Monitor and manage the production-based availability metrics within your area of responsibility and ensure that the transparent recording and reporting is aligned with the customer.
- Streamline and centralize the process for deploying documentation, including customer discussions, approval processes, and engineering coordination for improvements
- Prepare Maintenance Instructions and Troubleshoot Guides for operational deployment into planned work packages, integrating documentation, part requirements, customer approvals, PPE, tooling, special tooling needs, and equipment bagging and kitting.
- Support the feedback process for alarm handling to continually improve and standardize corrective maintenance documentation and procedures.
- Ensure the effective execution of deployable work scopes by promoting the implementation of a safe system of work, including low voltage (LV), high voltage (HV), Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR), and other electrical requirements
- Facilitate alarm handling feedback to ensure continual improvement and standardisation of corrective maintenance documentation and processes.
- Coordinating with central engineering teams to support the prioritization of issues, efforts for root cause analysis, plans for implementing corrective actions, and programs for preventative measures.
- Enhancing knowledge of wind turbine technology to enable more effective conclusions on technical prioritization.
- Support the wider team on authorisation panels and technician competency development.
- Utilizing Problem-Solving Reports and the DMAIC methodology to guide a culture of continuous improvement within your area of responsibility, ensuring high-quality knowledge is maintained and enhanced, and facilitating feedback to the necessary stakeholders across the organization.
- Provide support and guidance to the planning, supply chain management, and parts coordinators regarding tooling requirements and spare parts
- Serve as the point of contact for tooling suppliers regarding new technologies and addressing issues with tooling in the field.
- Manage the tooling budgets, ensuring expenditures are controlled, and prepare and present capital expenditure requests for tooling.
Travel Expectations
- The role will be predominantly based at the Port of Tyne, South Shields.
- The role requires international travel.
- Ability and willingness to work offshore as required.
Education / Professional Experience
- Degree in an engineering discipline or professional education / apprenticeship in a technical discipline. with extensive professional experience.
- Capable of working offshore at site operational wind farms.
- Significant experience of offshore wind Maintenance operations.
- Known ability to work in a cross-functional, global environment, with remote teams as a solid team player who can enable change and get work over the line.
Technical knowledge and skills
- Successful offshore wind experience or experience in a related discipline.
- High motivation level; self-starter with excellent leadership and communication skills.
- High capability with various office and cloud based software.
- Solid oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
