Taking a lead functional role reporting to the Industrial Leader, the role function is to design and implement production improvements within the manufacturing department.
Utilising Lean Principles and promoting quality improvement techniques in line with quality and technical procedures.
Generate and provide innovative solutions to reduce manufacturing costs and improve safety within the factory environment.
To lead and undertake planning, implementation, and execution of major improvement projects (Capex).
Primary Scope
- Plan and introduce changes to factory layout, tooling, and methods of working.
- Execute production processes to secure on-time delivery for production with respect to technical drawings, quality instructions, standard times, and equipment specification.
- Maintain and update records for existing equipment and replace as necessary to maintain company asset register.
- Lead and manage projects from conception to completion including realisation of proposed benefits with all relevant documentation.
- Create specifications to allow tendering process to be completed ensuring value for money.
- Successfully manage contractors working on projects from pre-assessment through to onsite completion and handover.
- Update and maintain process documentation for production tasks and equipment.
- Support business Continuous Improvement initiatives when requested.
- Comply with all business policies and procedures that may affect Quality, Health, Safety Environment.
- Implement and follow up on EHS activities to ensure compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
- The Lead Manufacturing Production Engineer creates and provides solutions such as tooling, equipment, specifications, and training for manufacturing to enable a stable production schedule.
- Interface with business leadership, customers, and suppliers to ensure on-time execution of activities to meet business needs.
- This role is responsible for leading and effectively coordinating between engineering, manufacturing, and procurement, forming a key part of the successful manufacturing of transformers on time, and to specification and cost.
Duties
- Design and implement production improvements within manufacturing to reduce costs and improve lead times.
- Take a lead role whilst attending design reviews and identifying production issues that require solving.
- Support manufacturing to enable adequate equipment and tooling are available as requested.
- Provide innovative health and safety solutions.
- Take a functional lead role in Lean events, process improvement events to improve the business.
