Job Description Summary
GE Vernova’s Power Conversion & Storage business provides electrification systems that are critical to our global customers\’ power and energy needs for their high-performance applications. We work with the world’s major energy, maritime, and industrial organizations, enabling their transition to energy efficiency and decarbonization, including through our specialist motors, drives, and control technologies.
GE Vernova’s Power Conversion & Storage business is delivering defence programmes that require exceptional standards in Quality, Safety, and Security (QSS). We are seeking a JIO (Joint Integrated Organisation) Committee Lead – Safety, Quality, Security, to provide authoritative governance across a mission-critical naval/defence programme managed jointly by three leading defence partners.
This is a senior technical leadership role requiring deep knowledge of APQP, NATO AQAP standards, functional product safety, and MoD security compliance. You will drive Zero-Defect and Zero-Harm cultures across the product lifecycle, from concept to delivery, ensuring technical integrity, functional safety, and compliance at every stage.
Job Description
What You’ll Do
Quality & APQP Leadership
- Act as the QSS Subject Matter Expert (SME), ensuring full compliance with SSQAC, AQAP 2110, AQAP 2105, and all NATO/contractual quality standards.
- Lead all APQP Phase Gate Reviews(Phases 01–05) and champion the Zero-Defect Mindsetacross design, validation, and delivery.
- Execute and validate PPAP deliverables, including:
- Capacity & Capability Reviews
- MSA (Gauge R&R), SPC, Cp/Cpk Studies
- Process Validation and Control Plans
- Deploy APQP Core Tools across suppliers and partners, including DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, and SPC.
- Drive supplier quality readiness, functional audits, and effective CAPA (Corrective & Preventive Action) planning.
- Promote continuous improvementand cross-consortium sharing of QSS best practices.
Functional Product Safety
- Act as the Functional Safety SME, embedding safety into every stage of design, validation, and testing.
- Lead hazard assessments(HAZOP, HAZID, FTA, FMEA) and manage safety risks across mechanical, electrical, and software systems.
- Validate safety requirements within DFMEA/PFMEA, and define safety acceptance criteria for prototypes and production units.
- Define and monitor Functional Safety KPIs, such as failure rates and fault detection coverage.
- Ensure compliance with safety integrity levels (e.g. SIL, ASIL), validating risk mitigations and safety case readiness.
Security Governance
- Lead security compliancefor all data, hardware, software, and intellectual property across the programme.
- Implement MoD-aligned information classification (Sensitive, Official Sensitive, Official Sensitive – NNPPI).
- Conduct internal and supplier security auditsand gap analyses.
- Ensure secure data handling, export control compliance, and training for all partners.
Consortium Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Be the primary interface with consortium partners, supply chain, and MoD customerson all QSS matters.
- Chair regular cross-consortium QSS and Safety Reviewsand report progress, KPIs, and technical status to senior leadership.
- Ensure that all deliverables align with project milestones, contract requirements, and QSS objectives.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture across all stakeholders.
What You’ll Bring
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- UK National (due to UK Eyes Only programme requirements).
- Eligible for or already hold SC-level (Security Check) clearance.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical discipline.
- 5–10 years of leadershipexperience in Quality, Safety, and Security within defence, aerospace, or regulated industrial sectors.
- Proven expertise in:
- APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, Control Plans
- AQAP 2110, AQAP 2105, and SSQAC requirements
- Functional safety validation, SIL/ASIL standards, and safety case management
- Supplier quality assurance and technical audit practices
Stand-Out Competencies
- Strong leadership in embedding safety and quality into product design and operational execution.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication, including government and MoD interfaces.
- Analytical problem-solver with practical experience in failure mode analysis and defect prevention.
- Security and compliance acumen, including classified data and export control management.
