Overview
The Key Account Manager – North East UK will be responsible for managing key client accounts, driving sales growth, building strong client relationships, and identifying opportunities to expand product offerings and maximize revenue. The role serves as the primary point of contact for clients, understanding their needs to deliver tailored solutions and exceptional service. The candidate will manage all aspects of the business product offering including Contrast Media products and SPECT and PET products, as well as medical education setup and support, past due collection backup and all key customer interactions. The successful candidate will cover the full territory within the North East of the UK.
Responsibilities
- Client Relationship Management: understand the holistic hospital environment and customer segmentation to enable effective relationships; own, manage and nurture existing relationships with customers including opportunities to grow share; understand client needs and challenges, and proactively address them to ensure satisfaction and retention; serve as the primary point of contact for clients, coordinating communication and managing expectations; drive a balance of face-to-face and digital customer meetings; support medical education programs and congress programs; triage customer queries to relevant teams.
- Sales Forecasting and Revenue Generation: manage pipeline forecast and demand planning, negotiate prices within the range set by the General Manager; develop and execute strategic territory plans to achieve revenue targets and drive growth; define and review annual account plans with disciplined execution; prepare accurate sales forecasts and reports, analyze data to identify opportunities and risks; create and follow up on new customer leads (including procurement and hospital management); negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to maximize profitability while maintaining client satisfaction; work with contract shared services during contract/tender processes; utilize tools to track activities and maintain records (e.g., Salesforce, Vistex).
- Market and Competitive Analysis: collect in-field customer and competitor insights for GM and Marketing; stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activities in the pharmaceutical sector.
Qualifications
- ABPI qualified
- Must reside within the North East of the UK
- Proven experience in pharmaceutical sales or account management with a track record of meeting sales targets and building strong client relationships
- Deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, including drug development, regulatory requirements, and market dynamics
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with the ability to influence and persuade clients
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
