Job Description Summary

Are you an experienced engineer with a background in medical imaging equipment? Or are you looking to transition into this exciting and impactful field? At GE HealthCare, we’re looking for a Field Service Engineer to join our dynamic team, supporting advanced MRI systems across South Wales and the West of England, ideally located between Swansea and Newport.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a global leader in healthcare innovation, where your work directly contributes to better patient outcomes. You’ll receive training on state-of-the-art imaging equipment and be supported by a collaborative, mission-driven team.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on MRI systems within your assigned territory. There may be other imaging modalities that we will also require you to adapt to related to your skillset and in relation to the MRI modality.
  • Troubleshoot complex, multi-symptom issues at the system level.
  • Build strong relationships with healthcare professionals to ensure equipment uptime and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with fellow engineers, service centre teams, and account managers to deliver exceptional service.
  • Manage your own schedule, tools, parts, and travel logistics.
  • Complete all administrative tasks accurately and on time.
  • Participate in a weekend shift rotation (1 in 4 weekends).
  • Provide remote support and diagnostics using our Remote Service platform.
  • Work from home to connect to medical devices via the internet for routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repair.
  • Travel occasionally to the Channel Islands and internationally (Europe, Asia, and the US) for training.
  • Expect 35–40% travel within the South Wales and West England region.

What You’ll Bring

  • HNC or equivalent qualification in engineering or a relevant technical field.
  • Field service experience, ideally with MRI and CT medical imaging systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently.
  • Experience connecting to systems remotely using a secure connectivity platform.
  • Competence with software loading, virtual machines, and general IT troubleshooting.
  • Valid UK driving licence and passport.
  • Fluent in English.

Desirable Skills

  • Broader experience with other medical imaging modalities.
  • Knowledge of DICOM and IT network troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with a Customer Relationship Management system (ideally SMAX).
  • Project management experience.
