Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Global Head of Imaging & Digital, you will join our Imaging & Digital Group, within the R&D department of GE HealthCare’s Pharmaceutical Diagnostics (PDx) business segment, which develops and markets a broad portfolio of imaging diagnostic agents across different modalities (including PET/SPECT, MRI, Ultrasound, & X-ray) and therapeutic areas (including Oncology, Neuroscience, & Cardiology).

The core responsibility of PDx R&D is the execution of clinical trials, with Imaging Technology Leads (typically PhD/MD/PGDip/MSc) providing expertise in imaging science and technology. You will be responsible for implementing and interpreting imaging methods in clinical trials involving ultrasound contrast agents, and possibly MRI contrast agents and nuclear medicine radiotracers. You will serve as the imaging SME on clinical teams.

You will collaborate with colleagues within the Imaging & Digital Group and the broader R&D and PDx organization, with expertise in ultrasound and other imaging modalities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject-matter expertise in imaging within PDx R&D globally.
  • Advise on imaging components of clinical protocols regarding technology, quality, and practicality.
  • Translate protocol imaging endpoints into strategies and formalize in study documents.
  • Advise imaging staff at clinical sites.
  • Author and review imaging sections of trial and regulatory documents.
  • Develop novel algorithms and software with R&D Digital colleagues.
  • Maintain an external scientific profile through conferences, publications, and collaborations.
  • Influence strategies, roadmaps, and advise senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including medical affairs and product leaders.
  • Travel to clinical sites for training and support.
  • Maintain and develop competence in imaging modalities.
  • Manage clinical study image data per regulations.
  • Build strategies and collaborations across GE business segments.

Qualifications

  • MSc in Clinical Ultrasound or PhD/MD in related fields like Medical Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Radiology.
  • Strong background in clinical ultrasound or similar.
  • Experience with imaging endpoints in clinical trials, scanner qualification, and image core labs.
  • Knowledge of imaging in clinical practice.
  • Proven ability to work across functions and teams.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic imaging research.
  • Initiative, systematic work approach, independence.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Fluent in English.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with other imaging modalities and contrast media.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., Board Certification).
  • Industry/healthcare experience.
  • Programming skills (MATLAB, C++, Python, IDL).
  • Knowledge of medical workstation platforms.
