This role will apply strong technical and scientific expertise to support research collaborations, evidence generation, and innovation in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Working closely with clinical, academic, and internal partners, this role will help identify unmet needs, translate customer and clinical insights into product and research priorities, and advance the use of MRI technologies in clinical practice. The role requires depth in MRI technical knowledge, MRI physics, and medical physics, along with a practical understanding of how MRI is used across clinical and research settings.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of MRI applications, clinical workflow, and technical requirements through engagement with physicians, scientists, medical physicists, and key opinion leaders in clinical and academic settings; communicate insights to product, engineering, and other internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with GE HealthCare global modality and care pathway product teams to assess unmet clinical and technical needs, identify research opportunities, and support the generation of clinical evidence.
- Propose and prioritize collaborative research and scientific activities in support of strategic initiatives related to current and future MR technologies, with emphasis on clinical utility, technical performance, and medical physics considerations.
- Support academic and clinical research collaborations with radiologists, medical physicists, technologists, and research teams, including engagement with assigned key academic and clinical sites focused on MR applications.
- Contribute to the development of the evidence portfolio through journal publications, summary articles, technical documents, and clinical marketing or training materials; support partnership opportunities through letters of support, research proposals, and grant submissions.
- Support adoption of new technologies and clinical applications through scientific advocacy and evidence generation.
Qualifications:
- PhD or equivalent degree in Medical Physics, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Health Sciences, or a related field.
- Some experience in MR, medical imaging, medical physics, or a closely related field, with demonstrated expertise in MR systems, MR physics, and clinical applications.
- Experience with academic and/or clinical research collaborations.
- Experience in a clinical environment working with clinicians, radiologists, technologists, and medical physicists, with an understanding of how MR is used in clinical practice and research settings.
- Strong relationship management and collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated record of innovation and development, publications and/or conference presentations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate technical issues, assess evidence, and learn new concepts quickly.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results.
- Intellectual curiosity and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional, global teams.
- This position is based in the United Kingdom.

- Familiarity with GE HealthCare MR systems and related research workflows, including protocol optimization, image quality considerations, and technical support for clinical and research use.

- Participate in customer presentations related to the research use of products and associated scientific applications.
- Strengthen collaborator networks, facilitate connections across sites, and support multi-site collaborations; provide scientific input on study design, methodology, focus areas, and publication strategy to advance independent research activities.
- Provide clinical and scientific input to GE HealthCare’s R&D roadmap planning and partner with cross-functional teams, including marketing, engineering, and regulatory, to optimize the use of clinical research findings.
- Support customer satisfaction through clear communication, observation, and appropriate escalation of site inquiries and concerns.
- Contribute to scientific thought leadership through co-authored and lead-authored peer-reviewed publications developed with internal and external collaborators.
- Support the configuration and use of research tools, including software, prototypes, and offline analysis tools, in support of collaborative research activities.
- Evaluate emerging MRI technology concepts and apply expertise in MRI physics and medical physics to support project advancement.
- Support GE HealthCare cross-functional teams in delivering education and training in response to customer needs, serving as a technical product expert and appropriately channeling user feedback.
- Maintain current clinical and technical expertise in MRI and medical physics through scientific literature review, professional meetings, internal training, mentoring, and other relevant development activities.
