The Security Supervisor role is responsible for the physical security on site for the protection of assets and employees in both routine and emergency situations. The role requires managing the day‑to‑day tasks of the security team on shift, ensuring compliance with the site’s security plan and responding to events and incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the security of the site is carried out in accordance with the ONR approved Security Plan and site security procedures.
  • Ensure there is suitable security cover for the shift.
  • Assign the daily tasks for the Security Officers, ensuring that they are carrying out their duties in accordance with site security procedures.
  • Carry out roles as part of the security team including patrolling, control room operations, vehicle/bag searching, manning the Control Centre, routine functional testing of security systems.
  • Identify and triage any deficiencies in the site security systems and equipment, including liaising with the maintenance company as required to enable repair.
  • Undertake the role of Security Manager as part of the site emergency arrangements, including initiating the site emergency response, contacting emergency services if required and investigating fire alarm activations.
  • Participate in emergency exercises.
  • Use the site health and safety management system (Gensuite) to report any safety or security concerns, record the completion of compliance tasks and complete housekeeping inspections.
  • Be first aid trained to provide first aid cover for the site out of normal working hours.
  • Review security procedures, identifying any improvements and amendments needed.
  • Carry out the first line investigation of any reports of theft or other security incidents reported to the Security team.
  • Verify identity documents used for BPSS checks.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working in the security industry.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with site staff and visitors, emergency services, regulators and members of the public making enquiries.
  • The role holder will be responsible for the security team out of hours and must therefore be self‑motivated and able to work unsupervised.
  • Able to write reports providing clear and concise information.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with working on a Nuclear Licensed Site and knowledge of the Nuclear Industries Security Regulations 2003.
  • Experience of supervising a team.
  • Experience with working with Genetec Security Desk and Lenel OnGuard security systems.
  • Security Check (SC) clearance approved by the UK Vetting Service.

Note

This role is required to work shifts including nights and weekends. Security Check (SC) clearance is essential for the role. If the successful candidate does not already hold an SC Clearance, this will be applied for by GE HealthCare at the earliest opportunity. Please note that there may be nationality and residency restrictions for this Clearance.
