Job Description Summary
The Project Coordinator at GE Aerospace will be responsible for supporting the planning, execution, and monitoring of various aerospace programs.
The Project Co-ordinator is a new pivotal role within our NPI Programmes Value Stream related to new technology introduction. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational and communication. Primarily providing support to the Programme Manager, the role is responsible for stakeholder alignment through Work breakdown Structure (WBS) planning and resource alignment and generally being the go-to person supporting the project team to resolve issues through completion of this exciting new technology project with GE aerospace. This role ensures project delivery on time, within budget, and in accordance with our stringent safety and quality standards.
This role will build on your background in engineering, end to end project execution through the New Product Introduction lifecycle stages with primary focus around project management disciplines supporting sub system projects, subcontractor engagement, project reporting, metrics, Risk and Opportunities Management, expediting tasking and activities as required and problem solving.
Some UK and international travel may be required to support project partners including customers, suppliers, and engineering service providers.
Role & Responsibilities
- Cross-Functional co-ordination across multiple functions, engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, operations, quality assurance, finance and supply chain, to ensure WBS/ resource alignment to schedule, goals and timelines.
- Support the Project Controller and Programme Manager in developing, the project schedules and integrated master plans using project management tools.
- Collaborate with project teams to identify and mitigate risks.
- Provide regular sub project reports as required.
- Update the project Flight Deck action trackers as required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in project scheduling and cost control processes.
- Support bid and proposal estimates using work breakdown structure methodologies to estimate the labour and material requirements and support the company strategic planning process.
- Progress Chasing/ Expediting – Actively follow up on outstanding tasks and deliverables to ensure timely completion.
- International Trade Control – Understand the changing environment and ensure compliance with international trade regulations, including import/export controls.
- Support the project and logistics team to facilitate smooth international transactions and on time delivery.
- Provide general assistance to other departments as needed, acting as a versatile team player.
- Serve as the go-to person for handling transactional items and resolving related issues promptly in particular around F-Reqs and driving timely PO creation through the Sourcing team.
- Facilitate program meetings, including agenda preparation, minute taking, and follow-up on action items.
- Maintain program documentation artifacts and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Risk Management – Proficiency in identifying potential risks and developing mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure all aspects of the program are accurately tracked and documented.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address issues that arise during the program lifecycle and implement effective solutions.
- Competence in using project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project) and ERP systems.
- Microsoft Office Suite: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for creating reports, presentations, and documentation
- Familiarity with general aerospace industry standards, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and high-quality outcomes.
- Basic technical understanding of aerospace products and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and conditions, maintaining focus and effectiveness in a dynamic environment.
- Identify and communicate project/ business issues to the Programme Manager.
- Additional tasks and responsibilities as directed by Programme Manager.
- Flight Deck: Utilize GE Aerospace\’s proprietary lean operating model, FLIGHT DECK, to drive program efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lean Six Sigma: Apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies to improve processes and enhance program quality.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Engineering degree, mechanical, aerospace engineering or equivalent.
- Broad experience of utilizing R&O management tools and defining mitigation strategies
- In depth knowledge of project cost, spend, monitoring and control, Earned Value Management a plus.
- Product delivery and manufacturing environment experience.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate and lead cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated ability and experience of working with customers.
- A confident and articulate communicator, both verbally and written.
- Strong understanding of project management principles and practices.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
