Overview

The maintenance fitter is responsible for assisting with the planned and reactive maintenance of site plant and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with line management and the site\\\’s CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) prioritise reactive maintenance activities and attend accordingly.
  • Carry out planned maintenance activities on site plant and equipment in accordance with the sites\\\’ preventative maintenance schedules & CMMS.
  • Fault find and diagnose faults on site plant and equipment, utilising technical drawings, manuals, PLC/CNC applications where required.
  • Fault finding to component level; assist in the planning and implementation of site-specific project works.
  • Relocate plant and equipment, when applicable.
  • Use and utilisation of site powered vehicles.
  • Adhere to safe systems of work, including the site\\\’s LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) procedures.
  • Provide on the job training and guidance to develop F&M Apprentice mechanics.
  • In conjunction with the Maintenance office, order breakdown parts or spares, providing detailed information as required.
  • Work with contractors and suppliers, when necessary.
  • Provide temporary Lead Mechanic cover when required.
  • Carry out statutory inspections of plant and machinery.

Qualifications

  • Must have served a recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship (trade papers required).
  • Can demonstrate strong problem-solving skills. Can read and understand technical drawings and manuals.
  • Has the ability to work as part of a team or on their own initiative.
  • Can balance varying workloads and priorities to meet business needs in a fast paced and diverse environment.
  • Must be computer literate and have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have recent mechanical maintenance experience within an industrial environment.
  • A strong understanding of mechanical systems.
