Job Description Summary
During a time of exciting growth we are recruiting for an Export Administrator to join our team at Dowty Propellers (a GE Aerospace company) onsite at our newly built manufacturing super-site in Brockworth, Gloucester. Dowty Propellers are responsible for designing, making and maintaining cutting edge propeller/fan blades that are essential on multiple civil and defence platforms, from hovercraft, to civil jets and military transporters.
Reporting to the Trade Compliance Leader, the Export Compliance Auditor is predominantly responsible for the auditing of Dowty\’s Export paperwork, ensuring compliance of all Customs Exports C88s in line with HMRC regulations and GE\’s policies and procedures. You will lead and shape your specialist compliance function within a dynamic customs environment.
Job Description
Overall responsibilities
To execute export customs auditing in for a busy customs team. You will develop our current export auditing processes, along with the responsibility for maintaining, improving and implementing those procedures. Stay on top of any Regulatory Changes and communicate guidance to the Customs Site Focal. You will collaborate across GE sites to share best practices, whilst maintaining compliance excellence. To build strong working relationships with Internal Stakeholders, and external Regulatory Bodies.
Daily activities, includes but is not limited to;
- Verify and audit shipping documentation in line with HMRC requirements, report out non-compliance errors to Dowty\’s Customs Leaders, as well as HMRC, whilst working closely with Brokers to address issues.
- Chase any outstanding Export C88s from Shippers/ Brokers in the absence of the Shipping Team Focal.
- Responsible for record keeping, ensure it is up to date, accurate, easily accessible, and audit ready
- Work closely with the Trade Compliance Leader and Senior Governance leaders to develop Dowty\’s processes to assure compliance with all country requirements
- Implement changes and ensure the Export country compliance processes are followed.
- Attend all relevant Internal and External Training courses to maintain customs knowledge.
- Raising of monthly HMRC Customs reporting when required
- Awareness of operational metrics to assure compliance with all export procedures
- Prepare / maintain reporting of status/progress of all export audit activity
- Monitor carrier performance through KPIs, and report and present at team meetings.
- Lead team daily operating rhythms in the absence of the Customs Focal.
- Attend Regular Team meetings, where you will communicate departmental concerns and present performance when required.
- Participate in and contribute to Internal and External Customs audits
- Responsible for any other administrative duties and customer service as needed
- Provide support to the shipping team if required
Qualifications / Desired Requirements
- Bachelor\’s degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent i.e. UK Customs Academy qualifications is highly desirableed
- Demonstrable experience in an aerospace or defence import/export or logistics role would be highly advantageous, however, if you have similar Customs experience within a manufacturing environment, we would be very interested in hearing from you
- You will be a strong proactive and strategic thinker that can drive change and will have a passion for auditing and process improvements.
- Confident and capable of working to deadlines and managing own workload
- Ability to undertake basic calculations (i.e. VAT and duty)
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Have excellent IT and Spreadsheet skills
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Have acute attention to detail.
- Ability to work autonomously in a busy team environment
- Be a strong contributor to the team\’s development
