Job Description Summary
Basic Qualifications
- High school education or GED equivalency.
- Ability and willingness to use basic hand tools and measuring devices (i.e. - dial calipers, rulers, tape measures, protractors, micrometers, gauges, etc.) as required within department.
- Basic understanding of blueprint and process sheet interpretation.
- Prior working knowledge of machine shop operations.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Operate hand tools such as scrapers, files, deburr-knife, burr-bits, emery cloth, etc.
- Operate mechanical equipment such as drill presses, turning equipment, sanding wheels & belts, buffing and grinding wheels; operate optical comparator.
- Perform visual inspection of parts subsequent to assembly steps.
- Verify and change tools when necessary; report problems to appropriate resources and/or Coach.
- Keep all team members informed on special problems involving operation or set up.
- Perform mechanical inspection to verify in process parts for conformance to print & specifications using standard measuring equipment; may assist with proto-type or first-time builds.
- Assist the team in development and/or improvement of procedures and process sheets.
- Perform daily machine preventative maintenance.
- Keep equipment in operation by making timely adjustments.
- Utilize proper PPE, safety equipment, and follow safety procedures.
- Participate in and support team initiatives.
- Assist in Manual Machine Shop when needed.
- Proactively work to improve efficiency and quality of products.
- Understand and abide by the GE Behaviors.
- Other duties as required.
Desired Qualifications:
- Prior experience and usage of micrometer, calipers.
- Experience working with drill presses, turning equipment, sanding wheels & belts, buffing and grinding wheels.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in a self-directed team environment.
- Familiarity with 5S and Lean manufacturing knowledge.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to continuously use hands and fingers in repetition.
- Ability to continuously sit.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 20lbs; ability to push/pull up to 22lbs.
