The maintenance fitter is responsible for assisting with the planned and reactive maintenance of site plant and equipment.
In conjunction with line management and the site’s CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System), prioritise reactive maintenance activities and attend accordingly. Carry out planned maintenance activities on site plant and equipment in accordance with the sites’ preventative maintenance schedules & CMMS. Fault find and diagnose faults on site plant and equipment, utilising technical drawings, manuals, PLC/CNC applications where required. Assist in the planning and implementation of site-specific project works. Relocate plant and equipment, when applicable. Use and utilisation of site powered vehicles. Adhere to safe systems of work, including the site’s LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) procedures. Provide on the job training and guidance to develop F&M Apprentice mechanics. In conjunction with the Maintenance office, order breakdown parts or spares, providing detailed information as required. Work with contractors and suppliers, when necessary. Provide temporary Lead Mechanic cover when required. Carry out statutory inspections of plant and machinery.
Requirements
- Must have served a recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship (trade papers required).
- Can demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.
- Can read and understand technical drawings and manuals.
- Has the ability to work as part of a team or on their own initiative.
- Can balance varying workloads and priorities to meet business needs in a fast paced and diverse environment.
- Must be computer literate and have good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have recent mechanical maintenance experience within an industrial environment.
- A strong understanding of mechanical systems.
