This position gives you the opportunity to develop the next generation of propeller blades. You will lead composite design, working on a broad range of projects, from new product introduction to manufacturing- and service support. You will drive product innovation and the continuous improvement of design processes. You will have direct access to a new state-of-the art composite manufacturing facility allowing short development cycles. You will lead cost-out and LEAN initiatives, working closely with Operations., * Own key design work packages across several NPI programmes and Integrated Product Teams.

Introduce mods and amendments in support of in-service requests, ongoing production and repair operations.

Identify development opportunities to improve component’ attributes (i.e. efficiency, noise, weight, stress, manufacturability, cost).

Manage requirements and specifications.

Generate and release designs with supporting analyses (DfM, Cost, preliminary stress & dynamics).

Support development of new manufacturing methods.
-
Manage risk assessments (incl. DFMEA / PFMEA).

Support plant’ objectives through daily interaction with Operations.

With project managers, contribute to the estimation (scope, time, cost) of assigned work packages.

Lead the continuous improvement of design processes and workflows (CAD, CAE, PLM). Identify and document design best practices. Lead and mentor other staff and trainees.

Mechanical engineering degree, aerospace engineering degree or equivalent.

Demonstrable experience in composite design.
-
Extensive experience of design for composite manufacture (ideally RTM) and a good appreciation of composite tooling requirements.

Experience of composite repair processes.

Existing signatory status for CAD and drawings release (ASME Y14.5 GD&T).

Existing signatory status for concessions and technical variances approval.

Expert knowledge of Catia, incl. CPD module. Experience with other CAD packages will be considered.
