Job Description Summary
We are seeking an Electronic Design Engineer with a passion for driving part cost reduction and optimising product affordability. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring our products remain cost-effective to manufacture, a critical focus for our business both today and in the future.
As a key member of a dedicated cross-functional team, you will leverage your engineering expertise and creativity to identify innovative opportunities for cost reduction across our production products. Your ability to analyse and implement solutions will be essential in delivering impactful results.
This role goes beyond identifying cost-saving opportunities-it requires a comprehensive understanding of how proposed changes affect product performance, navigating customer requirements, and successfully driving these changes through to implementation. You will be instrumental in ensuring that cost reduction initiatives are executed seamlessly, delivering measurable success for the business.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
Cost Reduction Strategy Development: Analyse current production products and processes to identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining product quality and performance.
Product Impact Analysis: Evaluate the technical and functional impact of proposed cost-reduction changes on product performance, reliability, and compliance with customer requirements.
Design change implementation: Drive design change implementation through prototype development, testing, and comprehensive documentation to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and procurement teams to develop and implement cost-reduction initiatives.
Customer Engagement: Collaborate with customers to communicate proposed changes, address concerns, and ensure alignment with their expectations.
Continuous Improvement: Apply creative problem-solving and lean principles to identify ongoing opportunities for cost optimisation.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with cost-reduction changes to ensure product integrity and customer satisfaction.
Technical Expertise Application: Leverage your engineering knowledge to creatively solve challenges and innovate solutions that balance cost, quality, and delivery.
Compliance and Standards Adherence: Ensure all cost-reduction initiatives comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
Educational Background:
Bachelor\’s degree in relevant field from an accredited university or college (or equivalent knowledge and experience)
Experience:
Proven experience in electronics engineering, with a focus on product design, manufacturing, or cost optimisation.
Significant industry experience, ideally in aerospace, automotive, or other high-tech manufacturing environments.
Strong knowledge of electronic components, systems, and manufacturing processes.
Familiarity with design-for-cost principles, value engineering, and cost reduction methodologies.
Proficiency in CAD tools, simulation software, and other engineering design platforms.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with internal teams and external customers.
Ability to present technical concepts and cost-reduction strategies clearly and persuasively.
Creative and analytical mindset with a proven ability to identify and implement innovative solutions to complex challenges.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Familiarity with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements relevant to electronics
