Roles and Responsibilities

Over your 12-month Placement you'll work in a Finance business environment gaining invaluable skills and experience. The opportunities available will cover all areas of finance from financial planning and analysis to order execution. You could be preparing key reports, analysing data, working on simplification projects, reviewing assets, or supporting the preparation of quarter end accounts.

  • Finance (Caledonian) - offers exposure across all areas of finance, from financial planning and analysis to order execution. You will support key activities such as preparing reports, analysing data, working on simplification projects, reviewing assets, and helping prepare quarter-end accounts. Day-to-day responsibilities include overhead cost management, overtime data submission, account analysis and reclasses, cost allocation, ad hoc finance tasks and projects, month-end close activities, and standard daily work.
  • On Wing Support Finance (Wales) - managing indirect costs for the London, Doha, and Dubai sites, including approving and overseeing indirect budgets and invoice requests, and ensuring budgets finish on plan each month, quarter, and year. You are involved in cost-out initiatives and perform financial analysis to support decision-making by analysing data, preparing reports, and identifying trends.
  • Supply Chain Finance (Cheltenham) - partner closely with Supply Chain and engage with the wider finance organisation to understand how finance impacts daily business operations and production. You will set up projects and resources in the ERP system, support the capital expenditure process, and perform part cost analysis to support Tollgate reviews.
  • Finance - FP&A Team (Wales) - support a broad range of finance and business activities, gaining meaningful hands-on experience while adding value to the team. Their responsibilities would include supporting daily productivity reporting, providing finance support to operations teams, assisting with expenses, cost analysis, and cost management.

You will be guided by structured goals and objectives and will have responsibility to deliver on inspiring projects supported by your People Leader and team around you. We will guide you throughout the year to ensure you make the best of your GE Aerospace experience. Your People Leader will offer coaching and mentoring, and you will be provided with the opportunity to connect with other placement students across the UK.

This opportunity is offered in our Cardiff, Caledonian (Prestwick, Scotland), and Cheltenham sites, during the process we will ask you to share your location preferences.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Currently studying a Finance/ Accounting/ Economics related Bachelor’s or integrated Master’s degree
  • On course to achieve 2:1 degree or above
  • To be in your penultimate year of study and returning to education post placement
