The EHS Leader will oversee the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) function for the Cheltenham Campus, managing a team of EHS professionals and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. This role will focus on driving safety culture, improving processes, and collaborating and influencing cross-functionally to achieve operational excellence. The EHS Leader will leverage industry trends and best practices to enhance EHS performance and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the EHS Team, providing mentorship and leadership to foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
  • Work closely with site leadership, operations and engineering teams to identify, address, and resolve EHS issues, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Fostering a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Take ownership of the GE EHS Framework Management System, ensuring its effective implementation and integration into site operations.
  • Develop, lead, and execute site-level risk reduction initiatives to mitigate hazards and improve overall safety performance.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements relating to occupational health and safety, and environmental (air, waste and water).
  • Manage EHS incidents effectively, including investigation, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and reporting.
  • Embrace GE Aerospace lean system (FLIGHT DECK) to continue driving transformational improvements across EHS.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • NEBOSH Diploma, or equivalent.
  • Significant EHS experience.
  • Strong EHS experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CertIOSH).
  • Previous experience in managing environmental permits (i.e. emissions).
  • Experience with ISO 45001/14001 or similar management systems; internal auditor experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with proven ability to influence across functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs/projects and deliver measurable results.

Desired Characteristics

  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS, Engineering, or a Science discipline from an accredited university or college.
  • Contractor management and construction safety (e.g., CDM in UK, local equivalents).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Previous experience in driving manufacturing health and safety programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and resolve problems using structured methods (e.g., 5-Why, Fishbone, FMEA).
