Newcastle High School for Girls - GDST is seeking to appoint a Science Technician to join our experienced team and support the Science Department. Your role will be to co-ordinate the use of practical resources and facilities and help meet the practical needs of the science curriculum, including liaising with teaching staff and support staff outside the department.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Preparing, setting out, testing and clearing away equipment, apparatus, chemicals and materials for lessons, practical sessions and activities.
- Providing practical assistance to the teacher during lessons, particularly where additional supervision of the activity is required.
- Assisting pupils in safely using equipment, chemicals and materials and undertaking practical work.
- Maintaining protocols for standard practicals, keeping records and readings as required.
- Carrying out regular and routine inspections, housekeeping and checks to ensure that all standing equipment and resources are ready for use in lessons.
