Harp Peripatetic Teacher

Notting Hill & Ealing High School, one of London’s leading independent girls’ day schools, has an exciting opportunity for a Harp Peripatetic Teacher to teach throughout the Junior and Senior Schools. The successful candidate will be comfortable teaching students on a 1:1 basis from Year 3 to Year 13 and will be interested in developing the role within the wider Music Department.
The post holder will be engaged on a self-employed basis and will be expected to be available for 1/2 day per week, term time only. The day/timings can vary depending on other commitments. They will be responsible for creating their own timetable to ensure weekly lessons of 35-minutes are taught to their pupils. Candidates will ideally be on the DBS Update Service. You will be required to invoice directly to the parents of the pupils you teach. The GDST or the School cannot act as agent for either you or the parent and will have no involvement in either invoicing or payment. You remain free to set your own charging rate and should notify the School in writing at least one term in advance of the rate you will charge for the following term.
Music at NHEHS
The Music Department has a high profile within the School and there is a tremendous amount of support and goodwill towards Music in the School. The girls are bright, musically able, and very keen to produce performance work of the highest standard possible. Currently about 390 instrumental lessons are given each week across both Senior and Junior sites and our visiting music teachers organise and direct several of our smaller ensembles and chamber groups. Music scholarships are awarded annually at 11+ and 16+.
The School Music department is made up of the Director of Music, Director of Junior School Music, Deputy Head Operations, Head of Choral and Academic Music, Teacher of Music, Musician in Residence and a team of 26 visiting music staff who currently provide extra music tuition to girls in a large range of instruments in brass, strings, guitar, woodwind, drums/percussion, Alexander Technique and voice.
