Position Overview: Self‑employed contract. Start date: September 2026. The role is part of a thriving Music Department at a high‑achieving selective girls’ day school.
Role and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be an outstanding musician, an effective communicator and an inspiring teacher, capable of teaching singing from beginner to post‑Grade 8 standard. Teaching will be delivered to individual pupils across the Senior School age range (Year 7‑13). Depending on the appointee’s interests and skills, there may be opportunities to lead choirs, coach ensembles and take part in school performances. Engagement is on a self‑employed basis, term‑time only. The teacher will create their own timetable in line with school guidelines, ensuring that weekly 35‑minute lessons are taught to pupils. The likely workload will be between half a day and one day per week.
Qualifications: Outstanding musical ability and teaching skill. Proficiency in a range of musical styles, including choral and classical repertoire as well as musical theatre, rock and pop. Strong communication skills and the ability to inspire young singers.
