Teacher of Art – Maternity Cover
South Hampstead High School is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of Art to join its lively and highly regarded Art department from January 2027, covering a period of maternity leave.
You will teach across Years 7 to 13, helping motivated and inquisitive students develop their creativity, confidence, technical skills and individual artistic approaches.
Art has a prominent place within school life at South Hampstead. The department takes a fine art-centred approach that encourages experimentation, playfulness and creative risk-taking, alongside strong observational drawing skills. Students work across an extensive range of media and techniques, including painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, textiles, ceramics, video and digital art. The department benefits from five studios, specialist facilities, a darkroom, Art library and Apple Mac suite, as well as dedicated gallery space for showcasing students' work.
About You
You will have a genuine passion for Art and the ability to communicate that enthusiasm to students of different ages and abilities.
You will be an engaging and collaborative teacher, able to plan challenging and inspiring lessons while encouraging students to develop their own ideas and creative independence.
