This is an exciting opportunity to bring performances to life at one of London’s leading independent schools. South Hampstead High School is looking for an energetic and motivated Theatre Technician to help deliver an ambitious programme of plays, musicals, concerts and live events. Working in our state-of-the-art facilities, you will help create memorable experiences for performers and audiences alike.
You will develop your technical expertise in a creative, fast-moving environment, working alongside our Technical Manager and Performing Arts departments. You will be involved in every stage of production—from rigging, plotting and programming lighting to setting up sound, AV, recording and livestreaming. You will also edit audio and video, help construct sets and props, and support pupils as they discover the possibilities of backstage theatre.
You will have practical knowledge of lighting and sound control in a theatre or live-performance setting, along with the confidence to set up and operate technical equipment safely. Knowledge of ETC Eos lighting systems, DiGiCo sound consoles and QLab would be particularly valuable, as would experience of audio, video or image-editing software. You will also be able to balance competing deadlines, work safely at height and undertake the manual handling involved in moving theatre equipment.
If you are excited by the craft of technical theatre and would relish the opportunity to inspire the next generation of performers, designers and technicians, we would love to hear from you. This is a part-time role, working 28 hours per week over 4 or 5 days, during term-time only plus 8 non-term days.
