The Girls' Day School Trust is seeking a highly organised and detail-focused Payroll Officer to join our Trust Office team. This is an important role within our payroll function, supporting the delivery of an accurate, timely and compliant payroll service for colleagues across the organisation. You will help ensure that employees are paid correctly and on time, statutory and pension requirements are met, and payroll records are maintained to a high standard.

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with colleagues across Payroll, Finance, HR and our schools, you will play a key role in delivering an efficient and responsive service, while maintaining strong internal controls and a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

About You / Qualifications

  • You will be a current employee of the GDST, bringing experience of working within a busy payroll environment, ideally supporting a high-volume payroll, together with a sound understanding of UK payroll legislation and processes.
  • You will be confident processing a wide range of payroll inputs, including starters, leavers, contractual changes, overtime, statutory payments and timesheets.
  • You will also be comfortable responding to payroll queries, carrying out manual calculations where needed, and supporting reconciliations and reporting requirements.
  • The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail, good Excel skills and a clear commitment to accuracy, compliance and customer service.
  • Experience of using an HR or payroll system is essential, and knowledge of Core HR or PeopleXD would be advantageous.
  • We are looking for someone who is discreet, dependable and collaborative, with the ability to manage confidential information sensitively and work effectively with colleagues across both Trust Office and our schools.
