Are you a skilled and dedicated person looking to make an impact in the utilities and civil engineering industry? We're on the lookout for an additional Fitter / Mechanic to join our Glasgow Depot and play a crucial role in maintaining our Plant and Equipment. Please note that this role will initially be based on Duke St, Glasgow but the Depot is in the process of moving to Bellshill. This move should be completed in June 2026. The role would then be based in Bellshill.
Purpose of Position: Keep GCU Vehicles, Plant and Equipment in optimal working condition, ensuring minimal interruptions for our Operational Teams due to mechanical breakdowns.
Key Duties:
- Conduct mechanical assessments on GCU Vehicle & Plant, ascertain repair scope, damages, and required parts.
- Perform repairs and servicing on GCU-owned Vehicle & Plant.
- Complete Garage Repair, Service Sheets, and Defect Rectification.
- Conduct function tests on plant before issuing them to teams.
- Utilize the GCU Workshop Tagging System for proper storage and quarantine.
- Ensure safe use of workshop tools and chemicals.
- Maintain workshop security and tools at the end of each shift.
Health and Safety Responsibilities:
- Keep the workshop ordered, clean, and tidy to prevent accidents.
- Adhere to GCU HS Policies, Processes, and Risk Assessments.
- Acting as an example by wearing the correct PPE for the area.
Quality Responsibilities:
- Follow GCU Plant and Equipment Management Processes and Tagging Systems.
- Create accurate workshop paperwork to uphold quality standards.
