AI Software Engineer | AWS | GitHub Copilot
Contract | Hybrid Working
We're seeking a senior AI Software Engineer with a strong software engineering background to help shape the safe and effective adoption of AI-assisted development within a large-scale enterprise environment.
This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of software engineering, AWS cloud platforms, developer tooling, security, DevOps, and AI engineering . You'll help define the controls, tooling, governance, and engineering practices required to enable the use of technologies such as GitHub Copilot and other AI-powered development tools at scale.
Working as part of a cross-functional engineering team, you'll combine hands-on development, technical research, prototyping, and platform engineering to improve developer productivity while maintaining security, governance, and operational standards.
The Role
- Evaluate and implement safe approaches for adopting AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot
- Design and build engineering controls, guardrails, and governance patterns for AI-enabled software development
- Develop tooling, automation, observability, and telemetry capabilities to support enterprise adoption
- Help define standards across development environments, cloud platforms, and CI/CD pipelines
- Contribute to modern developer experience initiatives, including containerised and cloud-based development environments
Essential Skills
- Strong hands-on Software Engineering background
- Experience developing applications and engineering solutions within AWS environments
- Solid understanding of AWS services, cloud-native architectures, and developer tooling
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps tooling, and software delivery practices
Desirable Experience
- Experience implementing or supporting GitHub Copilot or other AI-assisted development tools
- Knowledge of secure development environments, software governance, and policy enforcement
- Experience with containerisation technologies and developer platforms
- Exposure to telemetry, analytics, monitoring, and reporting pipelines
- Experience working within complex enterprise or regulated environments
- Data engineering, analytics, or insight generation experience
- Understanding of platform engineering and developer experience (DevEx) principles
