Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week: Between 06.30am – 16.30pm (although this may vary with demands of the role).

Working Days: Monday – Friday.

Salary – £26,500 per year.

Site Based – Full Time – Permanent.

As a Quality Assurance Technician for GCL Food Ingredients based in Newthorpe, you’ll be joining an industry leader and performing various duties within our ever-growing production facility. Established in 1964, GCL Food Ingredients is a manufacturer and supplier to both foodservice and industrial customers. We aim to work closely with both our customers and suppliers to create a food chain partnership.

Role

The Quality Assurance Technician will be responsible for supporting both the Technical and Production teams ensuring all quality requirements are adhered to and maintained.

Main Duties:

  • Work closely with the Production Team to identify and resolve any quality issues that arise during manufacturing.
  • Complete routine inspections (glass and hard plastic, fabrication, hygiene, foreign body, GMP) as scheduled, with the appropriate corrective action implemented.
  • Support BRC audits & Customer Technical audits, ensuring the department is audit ready at all times.
  • Coordinate the regular testing of products to address faults.
  • Investigate customer complaints through detailed root‑cause analysis and report findings.
  • Conduct quality inspections of raw materials, finished products, trial samples, reference samples, and end‑of‑life products across all lines.
  • Collect samples of raw materials, finished products, environmental and nutritional samples as well as pre‑set schedules as and when required.
  • Carry out CCP, allergen & species validation studies at the required frequency.
  • Carry out equipment validation.
  • Develop and update procedures, work instructions and standard operating procedures to align with quality requirements.
  • Provide CoC and CoA when required.
  • Conduct label, product, packaging and process specification verification to ensure quality and legality compliance.
  • Support pest contractor on site.
  • Promote excellent communications between departments.
  • Drive a culture of change.
  • Undertake any other reasonable request from the Technical Manager or the Management Team.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Experience in a similar role is desired.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced food production environment.
  • Good working knowledge of food production associated processes and capabilities.
  • Health, Safety, Food Hygiene & Environment Awareness Knowledge.
  • High attention to detail to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Knowledge of appropriate production processes.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc).

Qualifications:

  • Advanced Level HACCP.
  • Advanced Food Hygiene.
  • Previous experience of working in food manufacturing.
  • Reporting and analytical skills.
