Kevin is a 53‑year‑old male with learning disabilities, non‑verbal and no capacity. He loves music, concerts, events and socialising. He enjoys food, music and community activities. He has a wheelchair and walker and requires a personal assistant to support his daily living and recreational activities.
Role Overview
Personal Assistant – support Kevin with personal care, medication, mobility and social activities.
Responsibilities
- Assist with eating and drinking.
- Support mobility using wheelchair and walker.
- Administer medication as required.
- Ensure security, health and safety.
- Facilitate and attend recreational activities such as swimming, art galleries, science centre, cinema, theatres and concerts – including driving Kevin in an automatic mobility vehicle.
- Suggest new activities and accompany Kevin on outings.
Requirements
- Outgoing, friendly, compassionate, patient and honest.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to share passion for music and concerts.
- Experience with learning disabilities is helpful but not mandatory.
- A valid driving licence; must be able to drive an automatic vehicle.
- Over 25 years of age, required for mobility insurance.
- Reliable and trustworthy.
