Meet Charlie. Charlie is a 14‑year‑old boy who loves living his life to the fullest. He values time spent with family and enjoys music, toys, technical gadgets, arcade games, the Science Centre, aquariums, and local swing parks.

Role Summary

As Charlie’s Personal Assistant you will provide one‑to‑one care that promotes independence, dignity, safety, wellbeing and support within his home and local community.

Duties

  • Attending to personal care needs, including toileting and bowel movements.
  • Preparing meals and healthy snacks.
  • Assisting with mobility using a walking frame, prosthetic leg and wheelchair.
  • Supporting activities at home such as playing musical instruments, listening to music or garden play.
  • Accompanying Charlie to the Science Centre, aquarium, bowling alley or local swing parks.
  • Performing other daily living tasks to promote independent living.

Working Hours

7 hours per week on a permanent basis at £14.00 per hour. Typical shifts: Monday 3:30 pm – 7:00 pm; Wednesday 3:30 pm – 7:00 pm; or Saturday 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. Days of the week are negotiable.

About You

Charlie is looking for someone friendly, relaxed, with good interpersonal and communication skills (he is non‑verbal). Some knowledge of playing musical instruments is desirable but not essential.

  • Willing to learn and follow training guidance.

  • Experience with moving and assisting.
  • Experience supporting individuals with personal care needs.
  • Knowledge of how to play a musical instrument.
  • Full clean driving licence.

Employment Information

This role is subject to a PVG check (Protecting Vulnerable Groups). References will be required. Training will be provided where necessary. Employment will be direct under a family’s Self‑Directed Support funding.

Location: Coatbridge

Hours Available: 7 hours per week on a permanent basis

Rate of Pay: £14.00 per hour
