Maureen is looking for a Female Personal Care Assistant/Support Worker who can offer compassionate, person-centred support both in her home in Motherwell and out in the community. This role is focused on helping Maureen live the life she chooses – staying independent, enjoying her interests, and feeling confident and supported in her day-to-day routines.
Your Role
In this role, you will work closely with Maureen to provide the support she needs in a way that respects her dignity, preferences, and independence. You will assist her with personal care such as showering, toileting (including bowel care), and shaving, always ensuring she feels comfortable and respected. You’ll also help her with medication and prepare simple, healthy meals and snacks that she enjoys. Maureen likes to stay active where possible, so part of your role will be to support her with walking, gentle exercise, and taking part in physical activities that suit her abilities. You will also assist with moving and handling, including pushing her manual wheelchair when required. Keeping her home comfortable is important to her, so you will help with general housework and any daily tasks that support her independence. A key part of your work will be encouraging and enabling Maureen to enjoy the things she loves – reading, cooking, shopping, swimming, and other activities that bring her joy and fulfilment.
Emotional Support
Maureen values kindness, patience, and understanding. There may be times when she needs someone who can offer emotional reassurance, listen attentively, and help her stay calm and confident during difficult moments. Being a steady, supportive presence is an important part of this role, ensuring Maureen feels secure, respected, and emotionally supported throughout the day.
About Maureen
Maureen is 55 and lives with an acquired brain injury, which has resulted in a physical disability. She benefits from practical assistance in certain aspects of daily life, but she is also someone who enjoys staying involved, making decisions about her day, and continuing to participate in the activities she loves. She appreciates support that is tailored to her, delivered with warmth, and focused on her abilities and preferences.
About You
Maureen is looking for someone with a warm, friendly, and caring nature – someone who values building a supportive and respectful working relationship. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is a proactive and encouraging approach that helps Maureen stay involved in her routines and activities. Some care experience is helpful, but it isn’t essential; full training will be provided for the right person who shares Maureen’s values and enthusiasm for person-centred support.
