Kyle is a happy, outgoing and sociable 19 year old young man. He lives in the Airdrie area and requires a female personal assistant. Kyle has significant physical and neurological disabilities and requires help with one to one personal care at home, as well as assisting him in the community and to attend college. Kyle has lots of interests including gym, hydrotherapy, bowling, cinema, going for lunch and meeting his friends.

Responsibilities

  • Attending to all personal care needs (showering, toileting including bowel movements, shaving)
  • Support required to eat and drink
  • Hoist transfer
  • Assisting with medication, PEG/gastrostomy use
  • Preparing meals and healthy snacks, blended diet
  • Moving and assisting - pushing manual wheelchair
  • Light housework duties
  • Support one day per week in college from September (Mondays)
  • Community and fitness activities
  • Any other daily living tasks to promote independent living

Qualities and Experience

  • The most important qualities in the PA required are a good sense of humour, a warm and friendly nature and a desire to work within a caring role.
  • A calm person who can function under pressure is important.
  • Pets in the household – you must be comfortable working with a dog & cat in the home.
  • Experience is preferred, but not essential, as training will be provided.
  • A driver with a Full Manual Licence is essential, as you will be required to drive a manual mobility vehicle.

Hours, Location and Salary

  • Hours of Work (with a degree of flexibility)
  • Recruiting for 1 position.
  • Guaranteed permanent position of 17 hours per week
  • Days and times: Monday 9.00am - 3:30pm; Tuesday 9.00am - 3:30pm
  • Alternating weekends: Week 1 Friday 4.00pm – 8.00pm; Week 2 Saturday 11.00am – 3.00pm.
  • Flexibility appreciated if there is an evening event.
  • Hourly rate: £12.60 per hour
