GC Doors is seeking an experienced window and door professional to join the business as a Senior Technical Coordinator. The successful candidate will review engineers’ findings, prepare technical reports and estimates, source specialist components and support the progression of works through to completion. This is a customer-facing technical position rather than a general administrative role. It requires the industry knowledge and judgement to understand reported faults, assess proposed repair solutions and translate technical information into clear documentation.

Who the Role Suits

The position would particularly suit an experienced window and door service engineer, technical surveyor, fenestration technical coordinator, senior installer or technical estimator seeking to move into a hybrid technical role. The successful candidate must be comfortable reviewing field information and recommendations critically, seeking clarification where necessary and using their technical judgement to confirm that the proposed solution is appropriate. Alongside strong technical knowledge, excellent writing and customer service skills are essential. The role involves preparing client-facing documents, responding to enquiries and explaining technical findings, proposed solutions, costs, lead times and next steps.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to enquiries about repairs, maintenance, replacements and new installations, obtain the required information and determine the appropriate next step.
  • Review engineers’ reports, photographs, videos, measurements and recommendations, assessing whether proposed solutions are technically appropriate and obtaining clarification where required.
  • Prepare inspection, completion and recall reports, estimates, scopes of work and completion instructions, and raise the relevant invoices.
  • Identify and source specialist or obsolete components, compare supplier quotations, specifications, availability and lead times, and provide the information required to facilitate ordering.
  • Book approved completion works, review completed-job information and identify outstanding issues, variations or further requirements.
  • Support the assessment and coordination of recall works while communicating professionally with customers, engineers, suppliers and operational colleagues.

Knowledge and Experience

Applicants must have at least five years’ relevant experience within the window, door, glazing or fenestration industry, together with strong diagnostic and fault-finding knowledge. Broad experience across aluminium, timber, uPVC and composite systems is required. Applicants must be able to interpret engineers’ notes, photographs, videos and measurements, assess proposed repair solutions and identify suitable replacement hardware and components. Demonstrable experience preparing technical reports, estimates, surveys, scopes of work or supplier enquiries is essential. Applicants must also have excellent written communication, strong customer service skills, commercial awareness and the ability to manage multiple jobs accurately. Competence using digital job-management and office systems is required. Experience raising invoices and using field-service management or accounting software is desirable. Applicants must be confident working independently, know when to escalate matters and hold a full UK driving licence.

Specialist Systems and Hardware

Applicants must have broad practical experience across a range of European window and door systems. Relevant manufacturers include VELFAC, Rationel, Idealcombi, Schüco, Cortizo and NorDan, or comparable manufacturers. Experience identifying, diagnosing and sourcing specialist hardware is also required. Relevant manufacturers include Siegenia, Roto, Maco, Winkhaus, Sobinco, GU Gretsch-Unitas and Hautau, or comparable manufacturers. Experience with every manufacturer listed is not required. However, applicants must demonstrate broad knowledge across several window, door and specialist hardware systems.

Hybrid Working

The role requires attendance at the Broxbourne depot two to three days per week, with remote working on the remaining working days. Occasional site attendance may be required where technical support or component verification is needed. Applicants must be able to travel reliably to the Broxbourne depot and attend sites across Greater London, Hertfordshire, Essex and surrounding areas when necessary.

What GC Doors Offers

GC Doors offers permanent PAYE employment, a salary of £30,000–£40,000 depending on experience, hybrid working, 28 days’ annual leave including bank holidays, Monday-to-Friday working with no routine weekends, the equipment and digital systems required for the role, training and development support, clear progression opportunities and varied, technically engaging work within a supportive environment. Starting salary will reflect the successful candidate’s technical knowledge, relevant industry experience, writing ability, customer service skills and ability to work independently. The higher end of the salary range is intended for candidates with considerable experience across European window and door systems, specialist hardware, technical reporting, estimating and component sourcing.
