The opportunity for U
We’re now on the lookout for a Software Engineer to work in the UK production support team to support the GBST clients. This support could be in the form of issue triaging, issue resolution, client consultancy, or answering any queries from clients.
What U will do:
- Working within the UK production support team provide support to GBST clients in issue resolution.
- Provide support to clients with the version upgrades and assist them with the any support they need in UAT cycle.
- Defect analysis and creation of development tickets with detailed investigation notes and solution for the development team to fix the issue.
- Work in a cohesive manner with other Technical Analysts, Business Analysts and Service Desk Analysts in resolving the client issues/queries.
- Provide support to clients in out of hours support hours when required.
- Report to Scrum Master - UK Production Support.

U will be someone with:
Experience and Specialist Skills & Knowledge Essential experience and skills.
- A background in software engineering, with a good level of understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including Design, Implementation, Testing, Deployment and Support phases.
- Knowledge of Application servers such as Jboss/WebSphere.
- Technical experience with designing systems utilising OOAD, SOA, Java, J2EE, Spring, React.js, Node JS, Hibernate, SOAP/REST web services using XML/JSON, Spring security, SpringBoot and AMQP/RabbitMQ.
- Experience in writing SQL query reports and creation of data correction scripts including writing stored procedures using SQL Server.
- Understanding of the cloud infrastructure and its relationship with developing secure and scalable applications (with a strong preference for AWS).
- An understanding of common AWS services (e.g., EC2, RDS, S3, SQS, Lambda, AWS MQ).
- Familiar with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Basic Knowledge of DevOps automation using CI/CD pipelines and Helm charts, including Infrastructure as Code (IAC) using Terraform.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or AWS CloudWatch.
- Experience working in production support environment supporting clients.
- Experience in debugging/troubleshooting applications programs and identifying potential issues by scanning through application logs.
- An understanding of agile development methodologies and the practices/tools used in agile projects (scrum, user stories, Jira, Kanban, confluence etc).
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
