The opportunity for U:
We’re now on the lookout for a Legal Counsel to join our dynamic in-house legal team in London. In your role as Legal Counsel, you’ll partner with business leaders and stakeholders to provide strategic advice and deliver legal services to our business in the EMEA region. You’ll work closely with a Senior Legal Counsel in London and report directly to our General Counsel based in Australia. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity based in London. What U will do:
- Advise on a broad range of commercial contracts, including negotiation and preparation of complex technology contracts to support business growth
- Provide expert input on a diverse scope of matters, including intellectual property, employment, and corporate law
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including privacy and data protection
- Manage legal risks to safeguard GBST’s interests
- Educate and upskill the business on legal matters
- Initiate and contribute to continuous improvement in project methodologies, processes, and supporting tools
Desired Skills and Experience:
- UK qualifications as a lawyer with a professional practicing certificate
- 7+ years’ post-admission experience
- Strong background in IT contracts, GDPR/data protection, and stakeholder management
- Experience as a sole or lead negotiator
- Demonstrated success providing commercially focused and pragmatic legal advice
- Experience in law firms, technology vendors, or financial services
- Proactive, collaborative, and able to manage competing priorities
