What We Do

The Employability and Entrepreneurship Department at GBS is dedicated to preparing students for successful careers and business ventures. It offers tailored one-to-one guidance, a dynamic online Careers Hub via Handshake, and a structured Employability Award that builds critical job-seeking skills through Bronze to Platinum levels. Students gain practical experience in CV building, networking, and real job applications, including tools like ChatGPT.

Your work will enable them to create actionable career plans, get high quality support and guidance, and help them to identify and develop their interview skills. The Careers Campus Manager oversees the delivery of high-quality, personalised career support services for students and alumni at their allocated campus. This role involves developing and implementing strategic plans to enhance career services, managing data to monitor outcomes, and ensuring that services align with the needs of students, alumni, job market trends and B3 progressions metrics.

What The Role Involves

  • Lead the campus-based careers team to deliver personalised career support services, including career planning, job search strategies, and professional development for students and alumni.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the careers service at the campus, ensuring high levels of student and alumni engagement.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for career services on campus, building relationships with academic departments, employers, and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance career services and address the evolving needs of students and alumni.
  • Identify opportunities to expand and improve career services offerings, aligning with institutional goals and market demands.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align campus-specific strategies with broader institutional objectives.
  • Monitor and analyse data related to career services usage, student and alumni outcomes, and job market trends.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports to managers and institutional stakeholders, highlighting achievements, challenges, and areas for improvement.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of career workshops, events, and one-to-one sessions tailored to the needs of the campus population.
  • Ensure that all services are inclusive and accessible, supporting diverse student and alumni groups.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employers to enhance job and internship opportunities for students and alumni.
  • Act as a liaison between students, alumni, and external partners to foster meaningful connections.

Essential What Experience/Skills are required:

  • A degree in Careers Guidance, Business, Education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in managing or leading career services or employability initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategic plans in a professional setting.
  • Experience in data analysis, reporting, and using insights to drive service improvements.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, and the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with diverse audiences.
  • Analytical skills to monitor data and trends and use insights to inform strategy.
  • Proficiency in digital tools, CRM systems, and office software.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, with a commitment to student and alumni success.
  • Flexible and adaptable, able to work across campuses and occasionally during evenings and weekends.
