Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking Lecturers to teach across a range of undergraduate levels as part of the BSc (Hons) Computing programme. You will teach modules based on the three main themes of the programme: Technology, Software and Data; develop and deliver comprehensive course materials; and undertake all aspects of learning, teaching and assessment. You will stay up to date with developments in your field and student support practices. You will teach during weekdays, evenings and weekends as required by our delivery model.

  • Plan, deliver, and assess student work to meet learning outcomes
  • Develop, update, and improve course materials as appropriate
  • Use a variety of learning and teaching methods/materials
  • Engage in staff development activities, peer observations, meetings and administrative duties
  • Stay informed about latest developments in the field and student support practices
  • Work towards defined objectives for student attendance, continuation, completion, satisfaction and progression

Requirements

About you:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable)
  • Previous UK Higher Education lecturing experience in the wider subject area
  • Extensive knowledge in two or more of the following areas:
  • Programming and software development
  • Web development
  • Database systems
  • Cloud computing
  • Networking
  • Cybersecurity
  • IoT and emerging technologies
  • Business IT systems
  • IT management
  • AI and Machine Learning
  • Operating Systems
  • UI/UX
  • Experience supervising student work and providing support and feedback
  • Experience with accurate reporting and maintaining thorough student records
  • Ability to work under pressure, plan and prioritise own workload to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-working skills
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people

Desirable

  • Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enrol on a teaching programme during probation and complete within three years) or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent)
  • Experience in design/development of academic or professional education programmes or equivalent
