Salary: Lecturer: £51,000 Plus £5,000 Cohort Lead allowance on top of your Lecturer salary.

At GBS, Cohort Leads sit within our programme structure, supporting the Associate Dean to lead our large programmes. This is a fantastic development opportunity - ideal for Lecturers aspiring to step into academic management, lead people, influence quality, and shape the student experience.

Role Purpose

As a Cohort Lead, you’ll play a key role in the day‑to‑day management of teaching provision and academic staff within your Faculty. You will oversee the academic success, engagement and continuation of your assigned student cohort(s), ensuring they receive high‑quality teaching, strong pastoral support and a connected learning experience. Working closely with Module Leaders, Lecturers, Student Success Tutors and Faculty Managers, you will drive key performance outcomes such as attendance, assessment submission and student satisfaction. Your leadership will directly influence progression, retention, and overall student experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee high quality teaching and academic delivery
  • Lead and develop Module Leaders and Lecturers
  • Monitor attendance, continuation and assessment performance
  • Drive interventions that enhance student experience and outcomes
  • Collaborate with Student Success Tutors, Wellbeing and Faculty teams to support your cohort
  • Manage quality processes and contribute to continuous improvement
  • Directly shape student progression, satisfaction and success.

About You

You’re a committed academic with:

  • A relevant master’s degree qualification (PhD highly desirable)
  • Strong teaching experience (Higher Education Lecturer)
  • Previous leadership and line management experience of academic staff
  • A passion for supporting people and driving performance
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Experience of, and a passion for working in widening access environments
  • A student‑centred, data‑informed approach
