Department: Academic – as part of our partnerships with Oxford Brooks University (OBU), Bath Spa University (BSU), University of Suffolk (UoS) and/or Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU)

Location: London - Stratford or Greenford (On-Site)

Salary: £55,000 per annum

Type of Contract: Full-Time, Permanent (40 hours per week)

The role: We are seeking Study Skills Lecturers to join our growing team and create a positive impact on the lives of our students by cultivating the skills that shape their academic success. Due to our delivery model, we require flexibility to teach during weekdays, evenings and at weekends. Please note this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Craft and shape learning - Deliver tailored courses, digital resources, workshops and individual tutorial sessions to help students develop and sharpen their academic skills. The areas you will be focusing on are: English language and numeracy, academic writing and referencing, organisational and digital skills, research, critical/analytical thinking, presentation skills, and more.
  • Track progress with purpose - Provide meaningful feedback on individual and class progress, considering each student's needs, explaining where work fails to meet assessment criteria, suggesting ways to improve and facilitate students’ learning by means of engagement with online resources, research and activities.
  • Elevate student experience - Document and evaluate teaching and identifying areas for potential improvement to enhance the quality of teaching, learning and overall student experience.

About You:

You are someone who believes deeply in education’s power to transform lives. You are looking to inspire and guide students to success, while taking your own experience to the next level in a rapidly evolving environment.

You will bring:

  • A Master's degree in relevant subject area (PhD desirable)
  • Previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area and experience of providing individual and group support in response to identified learning needs
  • A successful track record of teaching adult learners from diverse backgrounds on HE programmes
  • Willingness to lead a specific area of literacy development, such as reading, writing, critical thinking, numeracy, digital skills, research skills (quantitative or qualitative), project and dissertation support or peer-assisted learning
  • A high level of digital literacy and advanced communication skills

Ideally, you will also have:

  • Expertise in digital educational resources development, course design and curriculum development
  • DELTA/CELTA qualification
  • A Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enrol on a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete within three years) or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent)
