Do you want to be part of a team that helps professionals do their jobs better and strives to create a more transparent, just and inclusive future? Thomson Reuters Confirmation provides a digital platform that helps audit firms, banks, law firms and other businesses send and receive confirmations quickly and reliably. We're looking for an experienced, hands‑on commercial lawyer with a problem‑solving approach to provide commercial legal services in a technology-enabled, data‑driven corporate legal department.

You will be the dedicated legal partner to the sales organization selling the Thomson Reuters Confirmation product, giving sound legal and business advice on customer agreements and partner arrangements across the sales cycle. You will have advanced legal skills and will work closely with sales leaders, product, finance and the wider legal team. This opportunity is with Thomson Reuters and based in London. The role sits within the Customers & Commercial team of the Thomson Reuters General Counsel's Office, a collaborative international team focused on enabling business growth and mitigating risk for the customer‑centric commercial group. The role supports the Confirmation sales organization only.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, draft and negotiate a wide range of customer‑facing agreements for Confirmation, primarily SaaS and software agreements, non‑disclosure agreements, and other commercial agreements relating to sales of the Confirmation product.
  • Advise the Confirmation sales team on contract positions, fallback options and deal‑specific risk, helping balance risk and reward so that deals close on sound legal terms without unnecessary delay.
  • Draft and update contract templates and online user terms.
  • Work with privacy, product and security colleagues on data protection, cross‑border data transfer and information security questions raised by customers.
  • Provide strategic legal advice to business leaders and help shape the sales playbook and approval processes for Confirmation.

Required Qualifications

  • At least eight (8) years' post‑qualification experience in private practice and/or in‑house, with substantial experience advising a sales organization on customer contracts (rather than procurement).
  • Experience and familiarity with supporting deals in multiple regions, including North America, AEM, Europe and the UK, and an understanding of how contracting practice and requirements vary across those markets.
  • Experience negotiating complex SaaS and software agreements with financial institutions.
  • Excellent technical legal knowledge of contract and commercial law, particularly SaaS and software/technology contracting, including generative and agentic AI products and solutions.
  • Excellent negotiation and drafting skills, with the ability to balance commercial pragmatism and legal risk.
  • Familiarity with data protection and privacy principles, including GDPR, UK GDPR and the ability to work with specialist privacy colleagues.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • An ability to think strategically, creatively and practically to identify and resolve legal issues, and to explain complex legal concepts concisely.
  • A desire and ability to quickly learn about Thomson Reuters products and services, and its internal processes and organizational structure.
  • A desire to build a legal career within a large corporate setting.
  • Authorization to practice law in your jurisdiction: London: Admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales (or equivalent), with a current practising certificate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the legal and regulatory landscape governing AI, including the EU AI Act, and the ability to spot AI‑related issues.
