Overview: At Fifty5Blue, we help BARB (Broadcasting Audience Research Board) measure what people across the UK are watching on TV. We’re looking for a hands-on, tech-savvy Field IT & AV Technical Specialist who enjoys solving problems, meeting people and working out in the field. In this role, you’ll visit panel members in their homes to install and support our TV metering equipment and software, bringing together your knowledge of audio-visual setups, home networks, devices and great customer service. It’s a varied role where no two homes are quite the same, and your work will directly support the accurate collection of important TV audience data.
Key Responsibilities
- Visit panel members in their homes to install, configure, maintain and remove our TV metering equipment and software across TVs, routers, streaming devices and other connected entertainment systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across A/V routing, broadband, home networking and software configuration on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android devices.
- Help panel members feel confident using the equipment by explaining things clearly, patiently and in a friendly way.
- Plan and manage your own daily schedule, appointments, travel and field admin, keeping accurate records of visits, technical activity, mileage and outcomes.
- Look after equipment and stock responsibly, making sure everything is tracked, stored safely and returned promptly when needed.
- Keep your company vehicle clean, organised and ready for the road while travelling across your region to support panel households.
What we are looking for
- A solid understanding of audio-visual systems, home entertainment setups, broadband routers, Wi-Fi networks and connected devices.
- Confidence troubleshooting across Windows, macOS, iOS and Android devices, with a practical, can-do approach to solving hardware, software and connectivity issues.
- Someone who enjoys working independently, staying organised and managing appointments, travel, equipment and admin without needing close supervision.
- Great communication and customer service skills, with the ability to make technical information easy for non-technical people to understand.
- A reliable, professional and detail-focused approach, especially when working in people’s homes and handling company equipment.
- A full UK driving licence and the flexibility to travel regularly across your assigned region.
