GBR Recruitment Ltd are working with a Gainsborough based Civils / Groundworks company recruiting for an experienced Setting Out Engineer who will be responsible for the on-site civil engineering / groundworks projects, including roads, sewers & all associated infrastructure works across various types of construction projects.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join a well respected & highly progressive civils / construction business.
Overview of the role
As the companies Setting Out Engineer you will transfer architectural and engineering designs from paper to the physical construction site.
You will use precision surveying instruments (robotic total stations and GPS) and CAD software to establish reference lines and levels, providing the groundwork and structural teams with the exact coordinates needed to build accurately.
Duties
- Survey Control: Establishing and maintaining permanent reference points, grids, and temporary benchmarks across the site.
- Setting Out: Marking precise locations for structural elements such as foundations, pile caps, slab edges, drainage, and utility runs.
- Drawing Interpretation: Reviewing blueprints, 3D models, and architectural drawings to understand build tolerances and structural dimensions.
- Quality Assurance & Verification: Conducting regular field checks and "as-built" surveys to verify that the erected structures align perfectly with design specifications.
- Liaison & Support: Collaborating with project managers, subcontractors, and designers to resolve discrepancies before issues cause costly construction errors
