GBR Recruitment Ltd are working exclusively with a leading Steel Construction & Civils company, who deliver bespoke full turn key solutions to various end using clients, recruiting for an experienced Assistant Management Accountant, who is AAT part qualified (working towards being fully qualified) or fully AAT qualified, or CIMA or ACCA.
This role reports into the Head of Finance and carries out a multitude of accounting/finance tasks including:
- Preparation of management accounts
- P&L variance analysis including anomalies, pre-payments & accruals
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Reconciling monthly control accounts (including bank & inter-company)
- Sales & purchase ledger support
- Producing weekly & monthly flash reports
- Month end & year end support (including audit support)

Duties:
- Assisting in preparation of management accounts
- Preparation, review and analysis of the P&L including variance analysis
- Ownership of the month end task list through liaising with internal stakeholders to meet deadlines
- Identify anomalies and mis-posting in the P&L and recommend and prepare journals to amend
- Update Prepayment and Accruals schedules for review by the Financial Controller each month
- Prepare and post monthly credit card statements
- Support the Finance Assistant with posting supplier invoices, ensuring timely and accurate entries
- Payroll administration processing monthly payroll, managing leavers and starters and ensuring compliance with regulations
- Full ownership of Balance Sheet monthly reconciliations for FC review and approval
- Maintaining the Fixed Asset Register and recommending aged/slow moving items for Stocktake preparation
- Reconcile monthly control accounts, including Bank and Inter-Company
- Support budget tracking and forecasting activities
- Provide Sales and Purchase ledger cover as and when required
- General finance administration, assisting with ad-hoc tasks and providing support to the wider team
- Preparing weekly and monthly trading, flash and financial reports to Group
- Support the finance controller throughout the Audit Year End process
Attributes:
- AAT, CIMA or ACCA, full or part qualified
- Strong Excel skills
- Experience of XERO accounting systems would be ideal (not a must)
- Experience of Auto Entry accounting system would be ideal (not a must)
- Construction industry or Engineering industry background would be useful, but not essential
