GBR Recruitment Ltd are working exclusively with a leading warehouse & distribution company based in the South Holland area of Lincolnshire (Southeastern Lincolnshire) recruiting for an experienced Night Transport Planner to work 2000 to 0800 night shift on a 12 hour, 4 on 4 off shift system. This is a great opportunity for an experienced transport professional who has worked in haulage companies with tractor unit & trailer fleets of 50+ supplying into major retailers & manufacturing companies.

You will have extremely strong geographical knowledge, strong route planning skills, strong negotiation skills to deal with any delivery time slots being missed with customers, strong coordinating & administration skills, plus be fully up to date with driving hours regulations. You will understand digital tacho rules & the downloading of driving hours worked. You will be strong in using transport planning systems & WMS. This role requires a confident planner who is happy to work on their own at night as the sole planner in the transport office. Temperature controlled transport experience is desired too as the business delivers both ambient & chilled products to customers.

Duties:

  • Route Planning: Using transport software to create delivery schedules while considering traffic & legal driving hours.
  • Driver Management: Briefing & debriefing drivers on routes, tracking their progress & handling post-trip debriefs.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensuring drivers complete defect checks & that vehicles are roadworthy. They monitor driver hours to obey safety laws.
  • Communication: Acting as the main link between drivers, warehouse staff, managers, trailer suppliers & customers, plus wider parts of the group.
  • Problem Solving: Rerouting trucks to avoid delays & adjusting transport plans for emergencies such as traffic jams, RTAs, truck breakdown etc.
  • Documentation: Managing delivery notes, proof of delivery (PODs) & invoicing paperwork.
  • Systems: Using Enterprise, EPS, Webfleet, HFX & Chalk board.
