Overview

GBR Recruitment is partnering with a progressive Telecoms & Utilities business to recruit a Junior to Mid-level Quantity Surveyor for their Leicestershire-based commercial team. The role is office-based 3 days a week with 2 days at home. The client is happy to consider a QS with 2+ years of experience.

The client supports the roll-out of 5G cellular networks on the construction side, including steel frameworks/steel towers, rooftops installation, and pre-installation grounds and civils work. They operate as a subcontractor to multiple main tier 1 contractors and, in some cases, directly with network providers.

To be considered for this role, you must have experience negotiating and supplying subcontracted services or products into the Telecoms and/or Utilities industry sectors.

Responsibilities

  • A key member of the commercial team, collating costs, producing Telecoms / Utilities tender submissions, and managing your own contracts.
  • Accurate tender preparation and submission to clients.
  • Cost analysis and regular review.
  • Use practical knowledge to support commercial opportunity within the Build Team’s scope.
  • Review, raise and submit variations ensuring PO cover.
  • Interim and final account submissions.
  • Ensure project contract terms & conditions cover liability for all commercial risk.
  • Client liaison, ensuring information is shared within the correct allocated project team.
  • Arrange and attend regular client meetings to support relationships and new business opportunities.
  • Support the finance team with relevant commercial information to resolve and close out invoice queries.
  • Financial reporting on project success.

Qualifications

  • Telecoms or Utilities sector experience is a must.
  • BSc, MSc or HND in Quantity Surveying or similar experience, or time-served QBE.
  • Knowledge of full turnkey construction, steels, civils & groundworks or similar.
  • Converse with CRM systems and tender portals / frameworks.

This role is well situated and commutable from Leicester, Nottingham, Derby and surrounding areas. The position may suit someone working as a Cost Manager, Estimator, Commercial Manager, Construction Manager, Building Surveyor, Project Manager, Project Lead, Cost Engineer, Quantity Surveying Technician, or similar.
