GBR Recruitment Ltd are working in partnership with a leading Lincolnshire employer, recruiting for an experienced Anaerobic Digestion professional to work as an AD Plant Operator who has come from working in an environmental / renewable waste industry capacity with hands-on mechanical skills and familiarity with AD / CHP plant processes and procedures including PLCs and SCADA. This role is working on a 4 on / 4 off shift system, including some night-time call outs.
If you have CIWM / WAMITAB qualifications that would be a distinct benefit, as you will be carrying out various on-site operations for the anaerobic digestion process. You should have some familiarity with regulations around flammable gases and biological hazards, within DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations), plus Confined Space Entry and COSHH protocols. You will have had practical experience in the industrial process or waste management environment (e.g., AD, CHP, biogas, energy from waste, water treatment or similar).
The site has an array of different machinery including Feed Hoppers and Conveyors, Shredders and Macerators, Pasteurization Units, Digester Tanks, Mixing Systems, Heat Exchangers and Boilers, Pumps, Biogas Storage Domes, Desulphurization Units, Gas Dryers / Chillers, Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Engines, Biogas Upgraders, Separators, Drying Systems and Temperature Control Panels. Exposure to some of this machinery is required.
Duties:
- Daily AD / CHP operational activities maximising the plants efficiency
- Undertaking scheduled maintenance and repair of equipment
- Sampling and loading of feedstock
- Monitoring and responding to out of hours alarms on a rotational basis including on weekends and throughout the night
- Additional weekend cover required if the opposite shift is on leave or sick
- Monitoring plant control systems (SCADA) and responding to process issues and/or faults
- Completing daily checks, logbooks and records to a high standard
Attributes:
- AD / CHP Plant Operator experience or have worked as a Process Operator, Process Technician, Biogas Plant Operator, Biomass Operator, Bio Plant Operator, Multi-Skilled Operator, Multi-Skilled Plant Operative or similar within the renewable energy / waste industries.
- Some experience with SCADA / PLC machinery
- Ability to interpret process data and operate computerised control systems.
- Foundation level engineering knowledge is highly valued for performing routine plant maintenance.
- Mobile Plant licences for operating forklifts or front-end loaders are beneficial.
- CIWM / WAMITAB qualifications are beneficial but not a must have.
The position is commutable from South Kesteven, North Kesteven, East Lindsey, South Holland, Boston Borough and North Lincolnshire.
